Artist's Background

Self-taught artist, Buford M. Husband III aka Buddy was born August, 30th, 1974 in Pasadena, outside of Houston Tx.  It was in the nearby town of Deer Park that he grew up and began to develop his deep love of art at a very young age.  Through consistent use of writing poetry, prose and drawing he was able to express himself more fully.

At the age of 18 he joined the Gary Job Corps in San Marcos Tx.  Here he spent a total of 13 months learning to become a combination welder.  Although he yearned for something more for his life, his reality at that time was to continue the path of his father and uncles before him working construction in the local chemical plants.  Never did know that there were different plans instore for him, that is until he moved to Austin TX on a whim in the Summer of 99'.

"I always believed that there was something special that I was suppose to do with my life; I just never knew that art was going to be my gift to the world, my lifes work . . . My passion."

Saturated with fervency, his work covers any particular subject, place or emotion that is in pure reflection to his enviroment.  As he dips his hands into the well of his subconscious, he pulls forth the essence of the human soul, creating art work that is unique, vivid and bold, yet remaining delicate and mysterious at the same time.

In order for him to create this desired effect he must carefully select each medium, technique and color scheme in perfect relation to his expression or "messege," as he would say it.  Examples of this can be found in Flow or The Fobidden Dance with their swooping layers of acrylic paint, or softly blended streaks of pastel which can be found in such works as Fluer Au Printempts and The Lovers, and finally we can find finely shaded and detailed drawings of graphite in such images as the First Creation.

Mr.Husband still resides in Austin TX, where he continues to create the beautiful art that he is known so well for.  And, as he furthers his art career his greatest dream is for people to see themselves in their truest light, and for them to always recognize that they are beautifully human,  and for them to remember that they do feel and have a need to express themselves.  In his eyes, doing this is the greatest gift we can give to each other.  This is his messege.
